Youth Engagement

bandtogether

Child abuse is the #1 social concern among teens in the United States. To leverage interest in this issue, a coalition of youth-led organizations introduces bandtogether. This campaign mobilizes and motivates young people, both in and out of foster care, to help raise funds and public awareness in their own communities to benefit foster children and to fight child abuse and neglect.

Building on the positive visibility generated by the National Foster Parent Association’s Blue Ribbon Campaign, bandtogether encourages all youth to show their commitment to the cause by wearing blue tape (drummer’s grip tape or painter’s blue tape) on their fingers.

FosterClub, a member of the National Foster Care Coalition, is where foster youth turn for advice, information, and hope. Members are resilient young people determined to build a better future for themselves and for other kids in foster care. This national network also serves child welfare professionals through events, publications, and resources, which are powered by youth perspective.
