Each year, individuals and organizations across the country reach out to their governors, state legislators, mayors, city councils, and other representatives, asking them to proclaim May as Foster Care Month in their jurisdictions. Each year, the majority of governors and numerous other officials join their constituents in recognizing and honoring the work of caring foster parents by signing proclamations.
